As part of Menyumenyeshe Project, IPROSARUDE in partnership with Care International Burundi conducted a mass sensitization of youth in the provinces of Gitega, Muyinga, Kirundo, Kayanza, Bubanza, Cibitoke, Bujumbura and Bujumbura Mairie. This sensitization was done in August 2019. The themes of the sensitization were: Prevention of Gender-based violence, prevention of unwanted pregnancies, prevention of early mariages and the promotion of parent-child communication.

Partners like the Administration, PNSR (National program for reproductive health), Care International, head of health districts, directors of schools, chief of health centers, youth, parents, etc… gave their support by participating in these activities.

The overall objective was to increase the promotion of responsible behavior, knowledge on the prevention of unwanted pregnancy and HIV / AIDS and major issues affecting youth and adolescents by the youth and for the youth.

Awareness sessions for young people on holiday were organized in 20 communes. In each commune, the 4 themes were taught to the audience that was present for the sensitization. The animation was done by the youth and a staff of the Ministry of health. After the teaching, questions were asked and prices were given to the respondents.

In every commune, all the autorities that were present reminded youth and adolescents to behave responsibly in order to avoid unwanted pregnancies, HIV infection, etc. It is also important to point out the participation of students of different schools and out-of-school boys and girls who have played sketches. In Rugombo, we were honored to have Vichou Love, one of the stars of Bujumbura.
