Cataract surgery at PEKA

On August 30th 2019, IPROSARUDE organised an eye camp for Cataract Surgery in Kayanza. This activity was conducted in PEKA (Polyclinique Espoir de Kayanza), one of the clinics of IPROSARUDE.

IPROSARUDE’s mission is to save lives and improve rural health in general and particularly for more vulnerable people through access to good quality healthcare.

On August 30th 2019, IPROSARUDE organised an eye camp for Cataract Surgery in Kayanza. This activity was conducted in PEKA (Polyclinique Espoir de Kayanza), one of the clinics of IPROSARUDE.

From some patients saying, they had bilateral cataract for ten years. These patients were admitted and surgeries were made.

After surgeries, the patients were very happy to see again.

SINDAYE Berchmans, one of the patients said: “I thank GOD and IPROSARUDE for this miracle that just happened. I spent 5years without seeing, but today I can see my wife, my sons and my daughter. In general, my life is being changed totally.”

He called up other patients who have cataract issues and still in their village to join the hospitals that IPROSARUDE has brought nearby.

IPROSARUDE organises community outreach activities to reach patients in surrounding areas of IPROSARUDE clinics in order to enhance good quality eye care services to the citizens. The latest activities were carried out in Kabarore and Gasenyi health centers.
